Porsche Taycan Turbo S is the real King of the Ring
In a move that is sure to get tongues wagging in the EV world, Porsche has revealed that it’s Taycan Turbo S has set a new record for production electric vehicles (EVs) around the Nurburgring race track by lapping it in 7 minutes and 33.350 seconds. This beats the previous Tesla Model S Plaid record by nearly 2 seconds. Porsche test driver Lars Kern said of the achievement: “We set out to be better than anyone else, not just on paper but also on the road and on the race track.”
What does this mean for the EV world?
This news is surely going to turn some heads in the EV world. The Nurburgring is notorious for being a challenging course, and lap times are often used to measure a car’s performance. For an EV to come out on top is a pretty big deal. It just goes to show that EVs can be just as fast, if not faster, than their gas-powered counterparts. But speed isn’t everything—what about range?
The Taycan Turbo S has a range of 312 miles on a single charge, while the Model S Plaid has an impressive range of 390 miles. So, while the Taycan Turbo S may be faster around the Nurburgring, the Model S Plaid can go further on a single charge. Which one is better ultimately comes down to preference. Do you value speed or range? Or maybe you want a bit of both? Whichever you choose, you can’t go wrong with either of these two cars.
